Greening OKC

Developing a comprehensive plan
Over the next year, the City's Planning Department will draft a new comprehensive plan to guide the future growth and development of our city through the next 20 years.

The Great OKC Tree Give-Away
The City and the Tree Bank Foundation have partnered to provide
free trees to citizens through a grant from the Apache Foundation of Houston, Texas. Trees are offered on a first-come, first-served basis to residents in Oklahoma City's corporate limits. Tree give-aways are organized twice a year, in spring and fall, as funding is available.

Neighborwoods
The City and the Tree Bank Foundation partner each year to provide trees for low to moderate-income neighborhoods. Local businesses and corporate sponsors provide funding for the trees and residents and volunteers plant and care for them. Find out more.

Created a tree guide
The Planning Department’s 117-page full-color guide Putting Down Roots discusses how to properly select, care for and maintain trees in Central Oklahoma. The book is available for download, and will be reprinted to distribute to the public in mid-late 2009.
